Stock is the part of reselling that causes the most stress. Xlistr gives you three ways to model it. Choose the one that matches how you actually store and sell the item.

The three stock modes

“Shared stock” and “shared quantity” mean the same thing in Xlistr. The app label is Shared quantity.

Which mode should I use?

If you are unsure, start with Single unit. It is the safest mode for second-hand stock. You can change the mode later if the item turns out to have variants.

Single unit

  • The item can only be sold once.
  • When it sells, Xlistr can delist the other marketplace listings.
  • The quantity should stay at 1.
  • If you own two identical items, create two inventory items or use a quantity of 2 with shared quantity.

Variants

Variants are for items that are genuinely different:
  • sizes S, M, L, XL;
  • colours navy, olive, rust;
  • shoe sizes 7, 8, 9.
Each variant has its own quantity, SKU and listing details. Keep the options structured so you can see what remains.
Do not hide variants in the description. If the marketplace supports variants, use them. If it does not, create a separate item per variant so the stock stays accurate.

Shared quantity

Shared quantity lets several marketplace listings draw from the same physical stock. Example: you own one jacket. You list it on eBay, Vinted and Depop. All three listings point to the same inventory item with a quantity of 1. When it sells on Vinted, the quantity drops to 0 and Xlistr can end the eBay and Depop listings. This is the core crosslisting model. It is what stops you from selling the same jacket twice.

Listing priority

When stock is limited, listing priority helps Xlistr decide which marketplace should keep the item available first. Think of it as a queue:
  1. The marketplace with the highest priority gets the stock first.
  2. When the stock runs low, lower-priority listings may be paused or ended.
  3. The exact behaviour depends on the marketplace and your settings.
Priority is useful when you would rather sell on one marketplace than another, or when one marketplace is faster to manage.

Minimum stock threshold

A minimum stock threshold is an eligibility cutoff. It is not a number subtracted from your stock. Example: if the threshold is 1 and the quantity drops to 0, the listing is no longer eligible to stay available. Xlistr can then pause or end it. Do not confuse it with “keep one back for myself”. If you want to keep a buffer, use a higher threshold and check the resulting listing statuses.
Stock changes travel through the marketplace connection. A change can take a moment to appear on the selling site. If an update is waiting, check the action status and the connection before assuming it failed.

After a stock change

  1. Open the inventory item.
  2. Check the quantity.
  3. Look at the linked marketplace listings.
  4. Check the publish status and sync status.
  5. If an update is waiting, check the connection.
  6. If an update failed, read the exact message before retrying.
For browser-session shops such as Vinted or Depop, the update also needs Chrome and the Xlistr extension to be available.

Common problems

Check the marketplace connections first. Auto-delist needs a healthy connection. If the connection is waiting, the other listings may still be live. Delist them manually if you need to stop a double sale immediately.
Open the item, check the inventory quantity, then check the listing’s target quantity. If they differ, refresh the listing or update the quantity. Read the sync status before retrying.
Use Shared quantity with a quantity of 2, or create two separate inventory items if you want to track them individually. Do not use Single unit for both unless you really have two separate records.
Check the variant quantity, not just the parent item. The parent may show the total while the specific variant is at zero.
Lower the threshold if you want the listing to stay available at a lower quantity. Raise it if you want to stop earlier. Check the resulting statuses after the change.
