# Plain-English glossary

> Every Xlistr and reselling word explained simply, from SKU and variant to queued, delisted and shared quantity.

Reselling has its own language. This page explains the words we use in Xlistr and in these guides. You do not need to memorise them; come back when a word does not make sense.

## A to Z

| Word | What it means in Xlistr |
| - | - |
| **AI credits** | The units used when Xlistr generates listing text with AI. They are optional. |
| **Archive** | Hide an item from your active working list. Archiving is not the same as deleting or delisting. |
| **Batch** | A group of actions processed together, such as listing several items at once. |
| **Bidzzy** | A marketplace that connects through the Xlistr Chrome extension. |
| **Brand** | The maker of the item. Use "Unbranded" if there is no brand. |
| **Car boot event** | An in-person selling event recorded in Xlistr. Also called an offline sale event. |
| **Category** | The section of a marketplace where the item is filed. A wrong category can hide required fields. |
| **Channel** | Another word for a marketplace or storefront connected to Xlistr. |
| **Condition** | How worn the item is. Be honest; a return costs more than a lower price. |
| **Cost of goods** | What you paid for the item. Private, and used for profit reports. |
| **Crosslist** | List the same inventory item on more than one marketplace. |
| **Delist** | Ask a marketplace to end or withdraw a listing. The inventory item stays. |
| **Draft** | A listing you have started but not published. Buyers cannot see it. |
| **eBay** | A marketplace that connects with an official eBay sign-in. |
| **Expense** | A cost recorded in Xlistr, such as stock, postage, packing or fees. |
| **Extension** | The Xlistr Chrome extension. It connects browser-session marketplaces such as Vinted and Depop. |
| **Failed** | An action that did not finish successfully. Read the message before retrying. |
| **Inventory item** | The real thing you own. It holds the photos, cost, quantity and private notes. |
| **Item specifics** | The extra details a marketplace uses for filters, such as colour, material or style. |
| **Listing** | The advert for an inventory item on one marketplace. |
| **Marketplace** | A selling site such as eBay, Vinted, Depop or Shopify. |
| **Minimum stock threshold** | A cutoff that decides when a listing should stop being available. It is not a number subtracted from your stock. |
| **Needs attention** | The Xlistr page that collects issues which need a human decision. |
| **Order** | A sale recorded in Xlistr. It may come from a marketplace or be entered by hand. |
| **Postage profile** | A saved parcel recipe: services, package type, size and weight. |
| **Publish** | Send a listing to the marketplace. |
| **Queued** | Xlistr has accepted the job but the marketplace has not finished it yet. Not the same as live. |
| **Restock** | Make an existing listing available again when stock returns. |
| **SKU** | Your own private code for an item. It helps you find stock and match sales. |
| **Sell similar** | Create a fresh listing or relist an older one, depending on the marketplace and settings. |
| **Shared quantity** | Several marketplace listings draw from the same physical stock. Also called shared stock. |
| **Single unit** | A one-off item. The available quantity is capped at one. |
| **Stock mode** | How Xlistr models the quantity: single unit, variant or shared quantity. |
| **Sync** | Send or receive updates between Xlistr and a marketplace. |
| **Variant** | A size, colour or other option with its own quantity. |
| **Vinted** | A marketplace that connects through the Xlistr Chrome extension. |
| **Watchers / favourites** | Buyers who saved an item to look at later. A new listing may lose them. |
| **Workspace** | Your Xlistr account and everything in it: inventory, listings, sales and team. |

## Words that are easy to confuse

### Delist vs archive vs delete

* **Delist** ends the marketplace listing. The inventory item stays.
* **Archive** hides the item from your active list. Check its listings separately.
* **Delete** removes the Xlistr record and its history. It cannot be undone.

### Draft vs live vs queued

* **Draft** — not sent to the marketplace.
* **Queued** — sent, but the marketplace has not finished it.
* **Live** — the marketplace has the listing.

### Single unit vs shared quantity

* **Single unit** — one physical item.
* **Shared quantity** — several listings draw from the same physical stock.

### Restock vs sell similar

* **Restock** — bring the same listing back when stock returns.
* **Sell similar** — create a fresh listing or relist an older one.
